| DETAIL: | With the challenge of converting two shops in a ‘multinational’ shipping line office along with time as constraint, client’s requirement was to make it operative within 32 days of time. Design concept: Robust beach Since the influx is of runners not executives, the design needs to be robust. The FORM of waves and ship dictate the aesthetics of the space. The color palate is of beach’s white, blue and sand brown. Fresh lime green color came in from company’s logo. The customer counter is derived from the form of ship and is done in robust material Corian. The ceiling of the customer lounge is painted in sky blue to provide the impression and depth of the sky at beach. Carved MDF is used instead of conventional flimsy soft boards to control the echo of the space. The work space is kept continuous and unhindered by any provision of walls, however low height walls are placed where required functionally. To meet the deadline, all the work stations have been made by JV partner of NUHA in Malaysia to make sure that the project progressed simultaneously at site interior and furniture making factory. Simple and direct solutions are provided as to meet the needs of a functional office space without being dull. This is the corporate office of the same client for whom I design the sales office. I just wanted to create a youthful working environment as most of the staff is young lot. My designed space engulfs their one third youthful times. Area: 4495 sq. ft. |
