Brazilian Embassy

Brazilian Embassy

PROJECT: Brazilian Embassy Site
CLIENT: Government of Punjab
COMPLETION: 2014
LOCATION: Murree, Pakistan
CATEGORY: Public Utility
DETAIL: The Objective
Mall road in Murree is well known for its socio-cultural life. Since olden days, tourists to Murree from far and near, have enjoyed their leisure walks on this Mall road, thus enhancing the romanticism of this Beautiful hill station in Pakistan. Mall road can rightly be called the “Heart of Murree”. Over the years, sole popularity of this one socio-cultural venue has led to traffic chaos and crowded tourist amenities, which has resulted in the gradual loss of its character and charm.
We propose that the solution to this situation is to create alternate and equally engaging public places within Murree to give variety and add to its tourist value.
The Concept
‘Celebrating the Traditional Festive Spirit of Mall Road’

NUHA designed it with minimum hard construction activity to ensure the purity of Malika e Kohsar.
Echoes from the Past
Refurbishment of Brazilian embassy building will represent the echoes from past — the glorious tourist legacy of Murree, a hill station in Pakistan. The festive attire of lights at night, an adaptive reuse of this building as a coffee shop is to give people an option to experience Murree’s glory thoroughly.
A library adjacent to coffee house will give an opportunity to people to enjoy the ambiance of the serene environment while they nurture their literary appetite.
Major influx areas have been carefully designed by keeping in view the important angles such as orientation, context, site contours and zoning. This will showcase all the activities that Mall road traditionally offers as well as much more. Outdoor café, Food Street and kids play area with the scenic view of Kashmir hills will ensure to attract the influx of tourists.
In order to increase the novelty of experience, we have created attractions bigger then what Mall road offers, such as a Laser light show and open-air video screen.
The proposed design puts together all activities in an aesthetical and functional manner.
We propose this design to be a self-sustaining green architecture project. We will have water harvesting system, windmill turbines and bio- gas plant. Porous pavement system will enable the natural green landscape to mold according to architectural space requirements.
